The fair print.
The rules for using Start the Bag, written to be read, not skipped.
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Use Start the Bag freely to learn and to plan your hustle. It's education, not professional advice. Check the rules where you live, bring in a parent or guardian for anything involving money, contracts or meeting people, and use your own judgment.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to startthebag.com, run by Cris Morgado as a Morgado Frankel Foundation initiative ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Who the site is for
Start the Bag is built for teenagers aged 13 to 19, and for the parents, carers and teachers who support them. Anyone may read it. If you're under 18, involve a parent or guardian before you:
- take money from customers, sign up to a payment, selling or banking app, or open any account
- agree to any contract, deal or brand partnership
- meet customers or go to anyone's home
- spend money to start a hustle
3. Education, not advice
Everything on this site is general information for learning. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax or careers advice, and it doesn't take your personal situation into account.
- Earnings, costs and timings are rough estimates. Nobody can promise you'll earn any amount.
- Calculator results are illustrations based on the numbers you enter. Investment returns go up and down, and past returns don't guarantee future ones.
- Laws, tax limits and platform age rules change and differ by country, state and province. Always check the official source we link to, or ask a qualified professional.
You are responsible for the decisions you make and the work you take on.
4. Follow the law and platform rules
You are responsible for following the laws where you live, including working-age, hours, tax, food-safety and licensing rules, and the terms of any app or website you use. We aren't a party to any job, sale or arrangement you make with customers or other people, and we aren't responsible for them.
5. Other websites and brands
We link to other websites and mention apps, companies, books and people because they may be useful. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. A mention is not an endorsement. We have no affiliate, sponsorship or paid relationship with any of them. All trademarks belong to their owners, and authors are named only to credit their ideas.
6. Using our content
You're welcome to use the site, the tools and the templates for your own hustle, and to share links. Teachers and youth organizations may use the content in lessons and workshops for free.
Please don't copy large parts of the site, republish it as your own, sell it, or use the Start the Bag name or logo in a way that suggests we're connected to you, without our written permission. The site's text, design, ratings, logo and code belong to us unless stated otherwise.
7. Don't misuse the site
Don't attempt to hack, overload, scrape at scale or disrupt the site, or use it for anything unlawful.
8. Availability and accuracy
We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is". We don't guarantee it will always be available, error-free or up to date, and we may change or remove content at any time.
9. Our responsibility to you
The site is free, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of it or reliance on its content, including lost earnings or business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep any rights the law of your country gives you.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, you may also have the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring claims in your local courts where the law allows.
